Araguaína, affectionately known as the “Economic Capital of Tocantins”, is one of the most important cities in the state. Located in the north of the state, it is an economic and cultural hub that attracts visitors from different parts of Brazil, with a floating population of 1 million people per year.
In addition to its economic relevance, Araguaína also has a wealth of tourist attractions that deserve to be explored. If you’re planning a visit, check out some of the city’s main attractions.
Christ the Redeemer
We have a replica of the Christ of Rio de Janeiro in the city. It is located at the highest point of Araguaína, in Setor Jardim Pedra Alta, which gives us a very beautiful panoramic view. It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night. The space is open to the public and completely free, just over 4km from Hotel Relicário.
São José do Operário Cathedral (JK Staircase)
The São José Operário Cathedral is one of the city’s main Catholic churches and an architectural landmark, being one of the first built in Araguaína, in 1978.
With its imposing facade and colorful stained glass windows, the cathedral is an example of modern architecture that combines beauty and spirituality, with a staircase with 50 steps.
Square of Nations
Located in the city center, Praça das Nações is a popular meeting point for both residents and visitors. The square is known for its modern architecture, with light fountains that offer a beautiful spectacle at night. It’s a great place to stroll, rest or take photos, especially for its sculptures that pay homage to the different cultures that make up the population of Araguaína.
Av. José de Brito
This is an avenue where we are located. There you will enjoy double streets, with a variety of stores, focusing on diverse gastronomy. There’s oriental food, a bar, açaiteria, ice cream shops, pharmacies, fashion, clinics… Several segments in one place.
Blue Lake:
Located a few kilometers from the city center, on Via Lago, Lago Azul is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Araguaína. Its clear waters and surrounding vegetation create a perfect setting for picnics, walks and boat trips. It is a very popular place for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and connect with nature.
Araguaína is a city that combines urban development with natural and cultural wealth. Whether to rest, have fun or explore, there is always something new to discover.
