Araguaína, affectionately known as the “Economic Capital of Tocantins,” is one of the most important cities in the state. Located in the north of the state, it is an economic and cultural hub that attracts visitors from various parts of Brazil, having a floating population of 1 million people per year.
In addition to its economic relevance, Araguaína also has a wealth of tourist attractions that deserve to be explored. If you are planning a visit, check out some of the main attractions in the city.
Christ the Redeemer
We have a replica of the Christ statue from Rio de Janeiro in the city. It is located at the highest point in Araguaína, in the Jardim Pedra Alta neighborhood, offering a beautiful panoramic view. It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night. The space is open to the public and completely free, just over 4 km from Hotel Relicário.
Catedral São José do Operário (JK Staircase)
The Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Worker is one of the main Catholic churches in the city and an architectural landmark, being one of the first built in Araguaína in 1978.
With its imposing facade and colorful stained glass windows, the cathedral is an example of modern architecture that combines beauty and spirituality, featuring a staircase with 50 steps.
Praça das Nações (Nations Square)
Located in the city center, Praça das Nações is a popular meeting point for both locals and visitors. The square is known for its modern architecture, with illuminated fountains that provide a beautiful spectacle at night. It is a great place to stroll, relax, or take photos, especially with its sculptures honoring the different cultures that make up the population of Araguaína.
Avenida José de Brito
This is the avenue where we are located. Here, you will enjoy double lanes with a variety of stores focusing on diverse gastronomy. There are options for oriental food, bars, açaí shops, ice cream parlors, pharmacies, fashion stores, clinics… Many segments in one place.
Lago Azul (Blue Lake)
Located a few kilometers from the city center on Via Lago, Lago Azul is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Araguaína. Its clear waters and surrounding vegetation create a perfect setting for picnics, hiking, and boating. It is a popular spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and connect with nature.
