1. Decorating the Christmas Tree
Decorating the Christmas tree has various historical origins, but today this moment reflects the family’s preparation for the festivities of unity and gratitude for all the blessings that occurred throughout the year.
The star at the top of the tree refers to the one that guided the three wise men, while the decorations and gifts are a modern invention.
2. Christmas Dinner
The Christmas Dinner holds great significance for Christians as it originated from a European custom of leaving their doors open for pilgrims to come and share a meal with them, in honor of the birth of baby Jesus.
3. The Nativity Scene
It is believed that the first nativity scene was created when Saint Francis of Assisi wanted to show how the birth of baby Jesus took place. Since then, the tradition has been passed down, and even today, in Christian homes, the nativity scene is set up to honor the memory of the birth of baby Jesus and all its symbolism.
4. Christmas Lights (Twinkling Lights)
The beautiful and romantic Christmas lights that decorate trees, houses, and establishments were created as a solution to prevent accidents, as candles were once hung and distributed throughout the home during the festivities. Nowadays, twinkling lights come in various models and sizes, making them accessible for everyone who wants to illuminate their home for Christmas.
There are many more traditions involving Christmas that we will return to discuss soon.
We’re getting into the Christmas spirit and want to remind you (both past and future guests) that here at Hotel Relicário, we have the tradition of decorating our hotel every year with lights and other beautiful decorations.
